The director of Disney's Maleficent, Robert Stromberg, has put a new twist on the classic fable on the tortoise and the hare. In this years Super Bowl a Mercedes Benz commercial aired something that people usually wouldn't expect from a car commercial, but this year was different. The commercial was a spin off on the tortoise and the hare where instead of the tortoise passing a sleeping rabbit he drove by a gambling one in a Mercedes Bens. Robert Stromberg says that once he heard that he would be working on a car commercial he right away went to the tortoise and the hare, which makes a lot of sense. It wasn't smooth ride though, Stromberg states two problems that they encountered. One of the problems was the fact that they had to animate these characters into the real world and then on top of that make these characters more human like and give them more personality, this process alone they say took 3 months. The other problem they faced was the weather, since the commercial wasn't all just animation they had to actually shoot in a forest in Oregon. For three days straight it rained it, it wasn't until the fourth day that they could actually shoot with clear weather. Even through these challenges though they still ended up making a great looking commercial.
This was an okay article for the most part. The reason being that while informative and a bit interesting, it was just too long. It isn't really long in general, it's just long for the subject it's on if that makes any sense. All I'm trying to say is how much do you need to know about a Super Bowl commercial. I just feel that there was a lot of useless info. in this article that could have been cut, but whatever. Even though I feel it was too long I did still think that it was interesting, I especially liked the part where they talk about the process of making the characters. Overall okay article.
