Serious Time #38 Being a Better Director

Being a director is hard work. Peoples views of directors can vary a lot depending on there past experiences. The article gives you 15 tips on being a director. One good tip they give is to give clear direction it makes everything easier for you and the people you are working with, this also leads to less confusion. Another great tip they bring up is to be efficient with your time, this also goes along with another tip they give later on which is to set a deadline for yourself to get a good pace and to use your time wisely. One thing they mention in a lot of tips is respect. You should give respect to the actors, the actors process, and their need for motivations. One big tip they mention is to not be demanding like a boss, but instead to be nice and helpful. A few other tips they give for the director are to not always stick to the script and to try and study other styles as a director.

This article was short but repetitive. I liked the article for the most part, I loved some of the tips they give like to give clear direction and so on but i don't agree with some others. One in particular I didn't agree with was to be a less demanding director. I feel that if there isn't a director demanding certain things that nothing would get done, this also though however depends on the group of people you are working with. Other then that I mostly agreed with the article though. I liked that the article was short and straight forward too. This focuses on the video side of Digital Media. Overall pretty good article.
